You can apply for a Tier 1 (Investor) visa if:

  • You are aged 18 or over
  • You want to invest £2,000,000 or more in the UK
  • You are from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland
  • You are able to prove that the money belongs to either you or your husband, wife, unmarried or same-sex partner
  • You have opened a UK bank account

Your funds must be held in one or more regulated financial institutions and should be available to spend (‘disposable’) in the UK. Your money can be in the UK or overseas when you apply.

You can come to the UK with a Tier 1 (Investor) visa for a maximum of 3 years and 4 months.

You will be permitted to:

  • Invest £2 million or more in UK government bonds, share capital or loan capital in active and trading UK registered companies
  • Work or study
  • Apply to settle after 2 years if you invest £10 million
  • Apply to settle after 3 years if you invest £5 million
  • Apply for an extension of leave under the same category for a further 2 years and after completing 5 years in the UK, apply for settlement to stay here permanently

You will not be permitted to:

  • Invest in companies mainly engaged in property investment, property management or property development
  • Work as a professional sportsperson or sports coach
  • Get public funds

Students with Financial Sponsorship

You may be able to apply for a Tier 1 (Investor) visa if you are already in the UK and you are:

  • A Tier 4 (General) visa holder
  • A student nurse
  • Studying, writing up a thesis or re-sitting an exam
  • A postgraduate doctor or dentist or an overseas qualified nurse or midwife
  • A student sabbatical officer

You must have an unconditional agreement in writing from your financial sponsor to re-enter or stay in the UK if your course fees and living costs were paid by either a government or an international scholarship agency.

 

Professional fees:

Normally, instructions in respect of all UK immigration matters are undertaken on the basis of an agreed fixed fee having consideration of the complexity of the matter and the level of expertise involved. All disbursements are additional such as the Home Office / Visa application fee and Immigration Health Surcharge fee. If we are unable to agree a fixed fee, our standard hourly rate will be £300 plus VAT (if applicable).

Our agreed fixed fee usually includes meeting with one of our experienced solicitors to establish the details of your case, advice on your option(s) and merits in the matter, guidance in collating supporting and relevant documents; preparing and submitting the application/representations with the Home Office / British High Commission in your home country and advising you on the likely outcome(s) of your matter.

Time scale:

Upon receiving instructions, we will provide you with an initial list of documents. Thereafter, we shall provide a comprehensive list of documents tailored to your individual circumstances. If your matter is urgent it will be dealt with as a priority. As soon as we have received the requested information and supporting documents and we have reviewed your matter, we shall prepare and submit your application with the relevant Immigration department bearing in mind applicable deadlines. The timescale on when a decision will be received will depend on the type of application being made and backlog of the decision making body. We shall keep you informed of the progress of your matter throughout the entire application process.
